★★★½ (3.5 stars out of five)

"Everything is fake," we're told very early on this journey. True. What we get is a concept album-cum-project in it's purest form, fronted by a dubious creature called Lady Bump. The REAL protagonists behind Fake want their identities concealed. Fine - they don't matter here: There's no allegiance to any musical form or convention, though many a genre gets dragged into the pot and bent into something familiar but strange. Like the Russian-sounding "Fanfare" or the Whitney-pop of "Back of My Mind" (but would Whitney sing: "If you think I'm fake then it's easy for me"?) or the TWIN PEAKS' atmospherics of "You're Gonna Get It". It's as audacious as it is clever and groovy.
